Warangal sources have stated that after unveiling the roadmap for the development of the weaving community and other related trades in Telangana, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had inaugurated the works on the proposed Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) by laying the foundation stone here.
Meanwhile, when speaking on the occasion, CM said the ambitious Rs1,150 crore mega textile park will have world-class capabilities to produce all varieties of fabric under one roof and will provide 27,000 jobs directly and over 50,000 indirectly.
According to sources the project, which is aimed at providing employment to locals and handloom weavers from Warangal, will come upon a sprawling 1,190-acre campus. The Park site is located between Geesukonda and Sangem mandals in Warangal (Rural) district. The mega Textile Park is expected to attract investments to the tune of at least Rs11,500 crore and provide direct or indirect employment to 1.13 lakh people.
Moreover, the Textile Park, one of the election promises of the Chief Minister, is aimed at facilitating reverse migration of handloom weavers. KCR called upon the weavers migrated to Surat, Biwandi, and Sholapur for work to come back to their native villages in the region as the Park can provide employment to them.
